The Mafia: Chapter Twelve

*This rough draft is entirely a work of fictional writing*

Lilly agrees to meet D for lunch at a Ritz Carlton hotel pool bar. D has had a couple alcoholic beverages and is slightly intoxicated.

Lilly takes a seat at the pool table, “Hi D… how’re you? How’d it go?”

D is disgruntled, “She kicked me out Lilly – she kicked me out for three days. Maria said I better disappear for a few days so that she can ‘mentally reset’ and get past this atrocity that I bestowed upon her.”

Lilly takes a sip from a water bottle she brought, “Oh gosh… really? She kicked you out? This might be too personal of a question to ask – but what did you say to her that made her that upset?”

D chugs half of his drink, “That’s the thing…. It was nothing! All I said is that I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do – and that’s what I’ma do!”

Lilly clenches her teeth, “Yikes…”

D quickly responds, “What do you mean ‘yikes’? What part of that sentence contains negligence to feelings?”

Lilly takes another sip of water, “I’m not sure… but maybe you should stop using the word ‘do.’ It seems like the way you say that word triggers some sort of hypersensitive reactions from them. How was Susan? How did she moderate?”

D chugs the rest of his drink, “It was a set up Lilly, I was set up. Who is Susan? I have high doubts that she’s even a licensed practitioner.  She was one-sided the entire time. I was taking blow after blow with no one in my corner. It was a hit job – Maria set me up.”

Lilly tries not to smile from D’s theatrics, “I know. When Jane called me to set up the meeting with Susan, I was like who is Susan? Never heard of her before. I tried to further inquire but Jane gave me a bit of attitude so I just let it go… you know that I would have found the proper person for the job.”

D chews loudly on a piece of ice from his drink, “I was ambushed Lilly. Totally ambushed. They had me right where they wanted me. Jane, Maria, them girls executed a professional hit job. I’m wounded… severely wounded.”

Before Lilly has a chance to respond a tan-skinned Hispanic girl wearing a bikini and holding two alcoholic drinks comes and sits in D’s lap, “Here you go baby.” She then kisses D on the cheek.

D looks at Lilly and says, “Lilly, I would like you to meet my new friend that I just met… her name is Selena.”

Selena reaches her hand out to Lilly. Lilly shakes Selena’s hand while awkwardly looking at D, “Hi Selena, nice to meet you!”

Avi, Jay, the four trenchmen and the three lovely ladies are sitting at the meeting room table. The room’s vibe is awkwardly intense.

Avi starts the conversation, “Where’s D?”

Maria responds, “I kicked his ass out for a few days.”

Jay shakes his head in disapproval, “Okay, but where is he?”

Jane sighs, “Who knows, he probably ran to that whore Littia’s house.”

Maria looks down at the table then speaks softly, “No… no, I don’t think he went there. He probably went to a hotel or something… sitting in a room reflecting, all by himself – as he should be.”

Mary holds up her phone, “He’s definitely at a hotel… a hotel pool bar. Looks like he’s doing alright.” She shows the room a video that D posted to his social media of him drinking Bloody Marys with the Weeknd’s Save Your Tears song playing in the background. Maria and Jane look horrified.

Mary starts laughing, “I’m sorry, but all I can do is laugh. I miss D already.”

Jane shrugs her shoulders, “Oh please Mary… he’s only been gone for like eighteen hours.”

Isabella walks into the meeting room with her hair tied up using a bandana and she’s wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering that says: Free – D! #HeNeverSaidThat.

James is the first one to jump out of his chair, uncontrollably laughing and applauding. The other three trenchmen join in on the standing ovation and start chanting, “Free – D! Free – D! Free – D!”  Isabella joins in on the chanting, “He – Never – Said – That! He – Never – Said – That!”

Maria slowly stands up from her seat with a teardrop slowly dripping down her cheek, “I miss him too!” then she storms out of the room.

Mary looks at Jane and says, “Jane, you better take Maria to go pick up D before some random girl falls in love with him and they disappear to some rural villa in Italy or Greece – drinking wine all god damn day.”

Jane gets teary-eyed, “Mary, why would you incept such a nightmarish scenario into my cognitive mind?”

Rose and Papa G are having a sit down meeting at a small downtown Italian bistro.

Papa G swirls around some red wine in his glass, “It appears them boys have sent you to handle their dirty work, eh?”

Rose takes a bite from her bruschetta appetizer, “Actually, it is quite the contrary. I consider this clean work, that is why they sent their lawyer to speak to you in an effort to showcase that diplomacy and compromise is on the forefront of their minds.”

Papa G smiles condescendingly, “My, my, you are very well spoken. Articulate as well.”

Rose ignores his comments and takes another bite of bruschetta.

Papa G continues, “Well, I am sure that you are well aware that my family spent a lot of time building up the distribution network – therefore we own all distribution and we’re simply not willing to compromise on that. We deserve a piece of the revenue if we are distributing their product – it’s a simple business transaction.”

Rose smiles, “Right. It would be the proper way of conducting business, except you know that you have an inferior product, therefore you are stealing our product and selling it as your own. Our family is not making money off of that – in fact we are losing money.”

Papa G laughs, “Ooooh. This is getting exciting! Wouldn’t you say? It appears your family has gotten exponentially better at retrieving intel.”

Rose responds, “Indeed.”

Papa G smells his glass and then takes a sip of wine, “What do you want me to do?”

Rose articulates, “Well. You will stop stealing our product and if you wish to sell it alongside your product, we need 85% of the revenue. That’s incredibly bountiful for you considering people can’t seem to get enough of our product, in fact, some may say that they love it.”

Papa G leans over the table and speaks quietly, “You see, that puts me in quite the bind – considering the way we’re operating right now seems to be even more bountiful than the compromising offer that you are proposing.”

Rose quickly stands up, “I understand. However, at this point, I must leave because I know Avi and he is the type of man that insists on hearing bad news immediately. My apologies for ending this meeting with a relatable quote from The Godfather movie, but I hope that you have a pleasant rest of your day.” *To Be Continued In Chapter Thirteen*
