A Short Story: Real Thorns.

She said:

Avi… I don’t think you realize just how intense the level of obsessive hate people have for you… it’s borderline crazy.

I said:

Believe me, I know. Just based off the names people call me; gay, transgender, etc, anything they can think of. I’m clearly not any of that stuff, but I certainly don’t have anything against those types of people…I believe that everyone has the right to be who they are.

She said:

How do you deal with that?

I said:

I’m not sure. I think the bad energy they send me is worse than name-calling.

She said:

Why do you think they do that?

I said:

I really have no idea… but I’m going to try a new process for making music where I have producers send me the instrumentals a few days before a studio session so I actually have more than an hour to write a song… I think the results will be shocking.

She said:

Wait… you were writing most of your lyrics in under an hour?

I said:
Yeah… each studio session is like 4 hours. The first two hours are for composing the instrumental then I have like an hour to write and deliver the lyrics. So, I think actually having a few days with a beat is the last piece of the formula.

She said:

(smiles)

So… you’re actually going to start writing real songs to me?

I said:

Yeah.

She said:

You’re going to take over.

I said:

Yeah, probably… That’s the goal. If I was writing that type of stuff in an hour, imagine what I could write if I had more time.

She said:

(smiles and blushes)

Where’s that poem you promised me?

I said:

As soon as we go on that date that you promised me.

She said:

(Laughs)

So there are four of you? Or four people as one person?

I said:

There’s only one of me, but there’s four characters that I created. Gives me more artistic freedom. Seeing as I literally don’t have any freedom, it’s kind of nice to at least have that.

She said:

(Rolls her eyes)

No wonder you have so many girls in your life.

I said:

(Laughs)

Well, I’m just looking for the girl that can handle the four of me. Usually a girl can only handle one of me.

She said:

I can handle the four of you.

I said:

I doubt it.

She said:

Let me try.

I said:

You can try, but I’m telling you, there’s never been a girl that could do that. Or they tried, but it didn’t last for very long.

She said:

So… there’s the poet, the writer, the charmer and the psycho?

I said:

Yeah… that’s about right.

She said:

So… if I talked to any girl that you’ve dated before, they would say the psycho was the worst?

I said:

No, actually I think every girl liked the psycho… I’d probably say they had the most difficulty with the poet.

She said:

Why?

I said:

I don’t know… you’d have to ask them.

She said:

How many girls have you seriously dated? Don’t lie to me.

I said:

Despite what people think… I don’t lie. About 5 or 6.

She said:

So what’s your goal, to keep making music?

I said:

Not really. My goal is to direct and write movies/tv shows. I’m just using music as a catalyst because it’s relatively inexpensive for me to make.

She said:

You think that you would be good at that?

I said:

(Laughs)

I don’t think, I’m certain of it. Directing is more or less, understanding photography and then having people that know how to operate the cameras. Story telling is dialogue, which I’m good at writing.

She said:

Interesting. I’ve seen how girls get when they’re around you… it’s kind of crazy, you’re not even famous.

I said:

I know. God gave me a gift, a very special and powerful gift and I don’t abuse it. The girl always has to make the first sexual move towards me; I never make the first move.

She said:

And what gift is that?

I said:

I have the key to their minds, souls and hearts. Immediately.

She said:

(Sassy tone of voice)

Oh yeah? And what made you so special to receive that type of gift?

I said:

He knew that he could trust me to never abuse that type of power. He knew that I would always remain disciplined.

She said:

No one else has that power?

I said:

No, I’m 100 percent certain of that. At least not on the level that I have it, or on the level that I’m able to control spirits. Why don’t we change the subject?

She said:

(Rolls her eyes)

Like I said before… you Philly boys know how to talk…

I said:

(Laughs)

So why is you wetter? And why is you thinking that everything I said is true?

She said:

(Smiles)

Because I’ve personally witnessed everything you said, to be true.

I said:

Look… shorty, I’m trying to love on you, so…

She said:

So… write me a real poem and take me somewhere nice to eat.

I said:

All of my poems are real.

She said: Yeah, but I like the really abstract ones that you write.
